Whichever side of the fence you sit on regarding the issue of climate change (and considering the fence is on fire it seems like there is only one logical response), we have all come to know that we do not live on a rock with bottomless resources, nor can we sustain our endless consumption.
Here at The Kia Oval we believe that, as part of the wider world, we should act in the most responsible and sustainable manner. This has become part of our ethos as a club and a business driven by our staff and our customers.
To ensure we are holding ourselves accountable we have set ourselves KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to assess our progress throughout the year.
- Successful introduction of compostable waste stream throughout the ground
- Continue eradication of single use plastic – having announced in May that we were 90% of the way to our target
- Reduce carbon footprint and continue to innovate in green areas
- Communicate our goals to fans and lead the sports sustainability agenda
These KPIs have been included in our Annual Strategic Summary in 2020 and communicated with all of our staff to ensure our shared responsibility across the business.
Our hope is that through making small steps we can create little footprints which leave less of a mark for future generations.
